GETTING TO AND FROM THE
MELBOURNE BIG DAY OUT Monday 28 January – Flemington Racecourse The best way to get to Big Day Out is by public transport! Extra trains and trams have been scheduled to make sure you and your mates can travel to and from Flemington Racecourse easily and safely. Don’t forget you’ll need a valid Metcard to travel to the event. Train
Trains will operate to a Saturday timetable. Special trains will leave Flinders Street Station (platform 9 and 10) from 9.30am until 11.30pm. Trains will stop at Southern Cross and North Melbourne stations then run express to Flemington Racecourse. Trains to Flemington Racecourse will depart Flinders Street every:
Return trains to the city will leave Flemington from 1.40pm until 11.15pm every:
Last trains to Flinders Street depart at 11.15pm. An additional train will operate to and from Ringwood as follows:
Tram
Trams on Route 57 (West Maribyrnong - City Elizabeth St) from Elizabeth Street travel to Flemington Racecourse. Special shuttle trams to Flemington Racecourse will also operate and will depart from the corner of Elizabeth and Flinders streets, and travel via Elizabeth Street, Flemington Road, Racecourse Road and Epsom Road to the racecourse. Last trams to the city depart at 11.33pm. Please note that other tram services will operate to a Saturday timetable, with the last tram as per the normal weekday timetable. For music lovers coming to Melbourne from regional areas V/Line services will run to an altered Saturday timetable with a boosted capacity on some lines. Visit www.vline.com.au for service information. Parent drop off/pick up
There are two designated pick up / drop off areas with access via the Main Entrance. One located along Langs Road and the other located on Epsom Road, between Duncan and Wisewould Street. Please note that no U turns will be allowed along Epsom Road and both Duncan and Wisewould Streets will be closed to traffic during the event. Parking
There is limited car parking available in the vicinity of Big Day Out and it is advisable to use public transport where possible. All of the local streets will be designated as “Permit Zone” only on the day of the event and parking restrictions will be heavily enforced on the day so don’t risk getting a fine. If you must drive, provisions have been made at the Showgrounds for public parking but spaces are limited and the cost will be $10 per car. Entry to the Showground car park is via Langs Road.
