Open the gates and stand clear — South Carolina’s BAND OF HORSES are bringing their brand of swirling, dreampop-like musical backing, soaring tenor vocals and ragged country influences to BIG DAY OUT.
Formed in 2004 by multi-instrumentalists Ben Bridwell, BAND OF HORSES blends roots and country sounds with an indie rock aesthetic that has brought the group legions of die-hard fans thanks to their solid albums, including Cease to Begin which spawned the modern rock hit “Is There a Ghost”.
The follow-up to 2010′s Grammy-nominated ‘Infinite Arms’, ‘Mirage Rock’ is the band’s latest album and it showcases their high-lonesome harmonies above a din of controlled guitar chaos. It’s also the first BAND OF HORSES record to be produced by Glyn Johns, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year in recognition of his work with The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Faces, Eric Clapton, and The Clash among others. “He’s the most legendary producer that ever walked the Earth,” says Bridwell.
Preceded by the infectiously melodic single “Knock Knock,” Mirage Rock is arguably the band’s most cohesive and accomplished set of compositions and performances to date and Bridwell says “was more fun and easier to make than any record I’ve ever played on”.
BAND OF HORSES bring their songs to life with the kind of performances that the Guardian describe as “playing with gusto and conviction, but delivering their songs with perfect clarity” and the BBC brands “a captivating stagecraft complimenting their modern melodic twist on classic Americana.”
All we know is that BAND OF HORSES are thoroughbreds whose elevation to the top is nailed this summer.
This show is your only chance to see BAND OF HORSES outside of BIG DAY OUT 2013
